Grand Rounds Top Billing

I got the top line billing on Grand Rounds this week.    It must either be a weak week for medical blogs or the host has outstanding editorial talent.  Let’ s hope the latter.  Check out:

  1. Hello,

I am on a 6 day taper (6,5,4,3,2,1)/ 4 mg. of Prednisone…Sciatica. There is no mention anywhere and the doctor didn’t say anything about sun exposure…can I go in the sun?

    Thanks, Louise

  2. Kathie: Usually courses of treatment for severe contact dermatitis need to be at least 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks, and most doctors would use a taper for that long. I often use 60 mg for a few days, then drop to 20 mg for a week, 10 mg for a week. No one always right answer here. DrP.

  3. I have prednisone for use when I have poison ivy (severe). I have moved and cannot reach my MD who prescribed it and cannot recall the dosage. It was tapered. I find your article interesting and wondered what dosage would now be appropriate. Non-tapered? How much? How long? Thanks.
